Matt was born and raised in Cape Girardeau and attended Notre Dame Regional High School. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2017 and earned a selection to the Order of the Coif.

After law school, Matt clerked for the Honorable Paul Wilson of the Missouri Supreme Court and then practiced law at a large firm in St. Louis for two years. Matt then returned to the Cape Girardeau area and joined Cook, Barkett, Ponder and Wolz as an associate in late 2020.

Matt has been a partner at the firm since 2025 and focuses on personal injury and wrongful death cases. He lives in Jackson and enjoys spending time with family, his dogs, and watching the Mizzou Tigers.
